Changing your Outlook Express Email Settings
|
| STEP 1. |
Open Outlook Express and choose
from the menu TOOLS, then ACCOUNTS. You should make sure that
the 'Mail' tab is selected and then you should see a screen
similar to the one below. |
| |
 |
| STEP 2. |
Click on the name of the Email
account which you wish to be able to send with through
Free-Dial (there may be more than
one listed) and then select the 'Properties' button
on the right hand side.
|
| |
 |
You should see a screen like this one. Some of the
fields may not be filled in. |
| STEP 3. |
THE GENERAL TAB (above)
You can change the top box (e.g. the one showing
mail.yoursite.co.uk above) to a friendly name for the account
if you wish. E.g. Simply 'Your Name'. |
| |
Notice that there are
five tabs at the top of the page. You generally only need to
view/amend the first two of these (General and Server). Do not
make changes on the others unless you know what you are doing!
The REPLY ADDRESS is the one that is used when someone is
replying to an email you have sent them. |
| |
 |
THE SERVERS TAB This is the Important Bit!
Enter this into the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) area.
mail.free-dialup.net

THE CONNECTION

If you haven't already done so setup
your Free-Dial connection by going Here
|
| |
THE SECURITY TAB
Leave this well alone. |
| |
 |
| |
THE ADVANCED TAB (Above)
Do not change unless you know what you are doing. Leave the
SMTP and POP3 settings (25 and 110) as they are - they ARE NOT
variable timeout settings but essential connection settings.
